I watched the entirety of the Future Games Show and Future Games Show Live from Gamescom so you don’t have to! Kidding, kind of.

Below are all the games that looked interesting to me, complete with timestamped trailers and Steam links for each game. Enjoy!

Future Games Show

  • Hell Let Loose: Vietnam | Steam - Hell Let Loose but we shouldn’t have been there to begin with.
  • Edge of Memories | Steam - JRPG with real time combat. Honestly reminds me a bit of Shadow of the Colossus
  • Den of Wolves | Steam - Payday but from the futuuurrrreeeee
  • Skate 4 | Steam - Not the biggest SKATE fan, but this one had, I think, a 3 year program where real people tested and gave feedback, similar to BF6. I’m hopeful.
  • 1348 ex voto | Steam - Italy souls! Looks interesting.
  • Hell is Us | Steam - Demon hunting Souls-like mystery?
  • DarkSwitch | Steam - Unique RTS where you set up a base on a tree and explore.
  • Lost Rift | Steam - Survival crafting with a lot of guns.
  • EverSiege Untold Ages | Steam (there’s another game named Eversiege on Steam, surely that won’t be a problem) - Interesting ARPG/RTS hybrid
  • Deer and Boy | Steam - I’m only including it for David’s “Metal Deer” line.
  • Monsters are Coming: Rock & Road | Steam - FTL but it’s a castle and you can run around outside it attacking things.
  • 13Z: The Zodiac Trials | Steam - A roguelike ARPG that has some interesting looking mechanics. Probably too anime for me, though.
  • Pizza Bandit | Steam - Overcooked if it was also a 3rd person shooter. Actually looks amazing.
  • Recur | Steam - Puzzle platformer where moving left reverses time, and moving right advances it. And you’re a postman. Not for me, but looks neat.
  • BPM: Bitcrushed | Steam - Enter the Gungeon as a rhythm game.
  • Hotel Barcelona | Steam - Suda51 hack n’ slash, but it’s actually more of a beat ’em up. But you can have sawblades for fists, so maybe it is hack n’ slash? It has some interesting roguelike features, though.
  • The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin | Steam - Open world ARPG, looks good but probably too anime for me.
  • Dome Keeper Multiplayer | Steam (it’s just an update to the existing game) - Dome Keeper is a digging and resource management game with base building and tower defense? Idk, that’s a bad pitch, but now you can do it with a friend.
  • Discounty | Steam - Isometric shop management sim but there’s weird stuff going on in town.
  • Tormented Souls 2 | Steam - Resident Evil-like sequel, comes out in October which is big brain timing for any horror game.
  • Gods, Death & Reapers | Steam - PvPvE ARPG where you play as a reaper? and you have to extract to get your loot out. Feels inspired by Dark and Darker.
  • Styx: Blades of Greed | Steam - I’ve never played a Styx game, but it looks like a great Thief successor.
  • Mount & Blade Bannerlord War Sails DLC | Steam - Vikings in M&B. The trailer has an Amon Amarth song and kind of kicks ass.
  • Wild Blue | Steam - Starfox 64-like. Not for me, but I’m sure it’ll do well.
  • Windstorm: The Legend of Khiimori | Steam - (pronounced He-more-ee) Horse courier game that was on Kickstarter earlier this year. There are survival elements but the base gameplay is riding your horse.
  • Bounty Star | Steam - They described this as a “base building mech western”, so I’m sold lmao. It does look good, though.
  • Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree | Steam - Anime hades-like
  • Pragmata | Steam - Still weird space game that feels Dead Space inspired? but like, loosely.
  • Halloween | Steam - Michael Myers horror game. It says singleplayer and multiplayer, but the trailer has no substance.

Future Games Show Live from Gamescom

  • Kaidan | Steam - Not actual gameplay, but interesting looking Souls-like?
  • Lunar Strike | Steam- Moon horror?
  • God Save Birmingham | Steam - Survival crafting zombie game with full physics. Genuinely looks great.
  • Norse: Oath of Blood | Steam - City builder with party turn-based combat.
  • Metal Eden | Steam - Fast paced singleplayer shooter. Low key Metroid Prime vibes. Made by the Ruiner devs.
  • The Last Caretaker | Steam - Survival crafting that might have automation..? Inspired by Wall-E, I think, which is why I’m including it.
  • The Signal: Stranded on Sirenis | Steam - Open world survival crafting, but the trailer makes it sound like there’s a bit of a sinister story.
  • Will: Follow the Light | Steam - They mentioned dogsledding. It looks like a walking-sim with a lot of interactivity and maybe some puzzle elements. Steam has it tagged as a walking-simulator, so.
  • Son of Thanjai Steam (steam literally has screenshots right now lol) - India-Souls? There wasn’t gameplay, so I’m honestly not sure, but I think that’s what it’s implying.
  • Unmourned | Steam - PT (because what horror games aren’t lmao) inspired first-person horror game.
  • Katanaut | Steam - Action roguelike hack and slash 2D platformer (that’s a genre salad fr) where you play as a cybernetic ninja on a space station, I think?
  • Jump Space | Steam - Co-op FPS in space? It doesn’t look survival-crafting, but I’m not sure what else the gameplay loop would be. After looking at steam, it’s mission based.
